The Leiter am Waal has a very special flair thanks to its parlours decorated in the traditional Meranese style as well as the idyllic arbour outside on the terrace. Long ago, when the irrigation canal was built up here, the Leiter am Waal (lit. ‘manager of the watercourse’) was the person responsible for overseeing the construction site. He had to supervise the work and the farmers’ use of their water rights, and therefore named the small house he lived in ‘Leiter am Waal’. The building was expanded several times until it eventually became the restaurant it is today.
The Leiter am Waal is the perfect place for celebrating your family get-togethers, Christmas parties, wedding receptions or business lunches and dinners. For our youngest guests we have set up a children’s play area outside, and they can also run around and play in the green outdoors around the house.
